These pieces are mixed media, using thin metal applied to a wooden panel for support. Each image is carefully embossed by hand, before each line is brought out through the painstaking application and removal of acrylic paint. Hand-distressing adds shades and colours, and lends a weathered, antiqued look to these pieces.

The images used are details from engravings from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. I am happy to create custom works of almost any type of animal, in any colour scheme.

Because these pieces are small enough to fit in even the most awkward of wall spaces, and are also resistant to water and moisture, they have been popular for hanging alone or in groupings, and make especially good pieces for bathrooms and kitchens and other places in which conditions may damage traditional canvas and paper art.

Each piece is 8" x 10", and 1 3/4" deep. $120 each.
